This website is IPv6 enabled
. I’ve had my account with sixxs for close to 2 years now, so I finally decided to apply for a second tunnel but as I never used my eircom email account it got deactivated.
This is where it became interesting… sixxs have a policy of deactivating accounts if emails bounce, and do not accept account such as gmail (read FAQ on that on). I emailed asking them to change my account email to my Gmail account, considering the amount of redundancy that google have it is probably better than most ISP email. In any case after a few more email back and forth I finally got my account re-activated…
As I stated in previous posts: It’s nice to have some manners, especially when dealing with people you do not know.
That is all.
Congrats on your part of converting the world to ipv6
I’m quite annoyed at people who insist on providing “real” email addresses, they usually reason that free mail accounts are too easy to get.
I understand that some people would rather expect you to have a physical (usually financial) link to the provided email address so that they may find your physical presence on demand.
The trouble is that some of the “free” ones are working a lot better than some actual provider’s service, as you point out. And what’s worse — since gmail is actually quite dependable, you can now also *pay* for a storage extension at them — so actually your apparently free email may not be free at all!
How would, using a freemail provider in a lesser known country — or for that matter, domains registered in a country with possibly quite different registration policies — qualify for more trust than say gmail?
I’m rather uncomfortable with the internet fragmented back to “approved” internet providers whose email is welcome, but arguably, email is bordering on useless today…
Though, obviously, the point is that it’s nice for sixxs to make exceptions
Thanks.
So far the only problem I had was that my pop went down for 4 days,it’s backup now and working again..
Fingers crossed it will continue working
The POP: usbos01.sixxs.net has now been down for 5 days… what the hell is going on…
