Got my Canon A610 on friday, nice camera its got loads of features most I haven’t got a clue about. I’ve had loads of fun with it so far. Its my first digital camera and i hope it will last me a very long time…..Kinda messed up the tranfer of the images and accidently deleted all the images before they got tranfered. Its not a great loss as most of the picture were really crappy I was a bit pissed at the time so the moral of the story is; mess around new camera when your sober!!

The company I work for is moving to new premises after christmas big deal in itself. but what compounds the situations is that we have two productions going on. One is a feature film and the other a TV series, At the moment there is not enough room to fit the two productions in the space we have already(reason for moving in the first place) The two productions are split between 4 rooms in the building we are moving into, but the TV series crew is moving in before the other production,As all the structured cabling will be going back to the main comms rooms, and that won’t be build till the end of january I have the job of temperorly installing (running network cable) for all the machines, hurray!. As this is only suppose to last until the end of.. middle of february its has to be cheap! so maybe 2 cheap smc 16 port switch (55 euro,komplett.ie) and loads of network cable shoud do until the comms room is built and everything can go in there.Heres to DIY

After much searching for an alterntive to ASDL. I found out that SDSL is avaiable in Kilkenny, hurray!! The only other options were digiweb’s wimax (not sure about this) and getting access to the MAN(Metropolitan Area Networks). The quotes i got from some companies were outragous… for a 2 megabyte (16megabit) connection we here looking at €11,700 install and another €13,000 for line rental and Internet access.(MCI) Eircom quote came in at €30,000.(own network) BT don’t anything below 10megabytes. but even SDSL is expensive for what you get, 2mbit connection 1:1 will cost up €750 a month, but the Installation is free which normally is €500 euro. The lead time on installation is about 6 weeks ish.. so we have to order it before christmas to have a chance in hell to get it after.

Just bought a canon A610 digital camera from komplett €299 inc vat with a 512 SD card, it was €100 cheaper than the high street price. Hope it will arrives in good time. In saying that I bought a gift from strawberry.net and it shipped from hong kong..(madness) I’m not sure if that will arrive before christmas(hope so).

Finally got back up and running. The college (WIT) in their wisdom took over the computer society box for 2 weeks as they thought that we were running commerical websites. How can a animation festival or a student music bands website be classed as commerical ? Anyway with all the bullshit going on I decided to move everything that I ran to unixshells.com XEN virtual host. I been very happy so far with the service and the Control panel is Great. I subscribed to the 64mb with 64GB traffic allowed per month. Considering that the computer society never when passed 20GB web traffic I think I’ll be fine…. Before i took the time to reinstall wordpress I had a image (caricature) of myself as the website, done by a friend of mine quite funny really.
